Putnam County MOVANS Alert Change
Missouri changed its notification channels on May 5, 2026. Telephone calls and VINELink-app notifications ended. SMS text and email are the supported delivery methods now. Existing users who already received text or email did not need to take action, according to the Missouri DPS change announcement.

Older instructions asked a user to create a four-digit phone PIN and enter it with the pound key after a call. That was the prior voice system. There is no current voice-call PIN step. An old brochure can explain history, but it must not control a new Putnam County release-alert registration.

Putnam County Jail Alert Route
The Putnam County Detention Center is the local physical custody point. A person who is on the current roster is still in local custody. A person shown in the released view has left that county custody episode, although the destination can still be another agency.
When a local MOVANS alert arrives, open the Sheriff's released view and then the individual record. Match the booking number and timestamp. If the destination is unclear, use the Sheriff's official contact page or call the 24-hour line at 660-947-2515. A written Sunshine request is the better route when a document is needed. Ask for the booking sheet, admission and release time, release type or destination, transfer record if relevant, and booking photograph.
MODOC Release Notification Route
A Missouri prison or supervision event is not the same as a Putnam County jail event. MODOC Victim Services handles custody registration for state inmates. The active MODOC offender search can then help distinguish an institutional assignment from a field assignment, parole, conditional release, or probation. A field assignment supports community supervision, but it does not mean the sentence has fully discharged.
After final discharge, the person may vanish from the active search because MODOC expressly omits discharged offenders.
